Do you know a 'Tiny Art Director'?

Zeman's book chronicles his daughter's creative passion

By Kristen SchottPublished: May, 2010

I had never heard of the book "Tiny Art Director: A Toddler and Her Vision" when my boyfriend (and coincidentally an art/design enthusiast) demanded that I "review it. Please."

So, I figured I'd give it a go: Chronicle Books usually publishes fun, inventive books, and this turned out to be no different.

Author, artist and Web developer Bill Zeman has put together a book that focuses on his daughter, Rosie, a tiny art director who wants her dad to churn out some good work now and then.

It's really quite a creative idea, and I think this book is fun for kiddies and adults (and it's a great book for Father's Day, if dad happens to be a designer of any kind).

From the front cover to the last page, this book is a joy to read, and it offers a hilarious look at the mind of an aspiring art aficionado.

Comments such as "I don't like him" or "No, Daddy! I didn't ask you to sit down! Go out of this room right now, Daddy!" abound and create laugh-out-loud fun for readers.

But when you get down to it, this is really a touching, tender book about the loving, fun relationship between a dad and his daughter, now aged 5. The pictures scattered throughout the story are equally tender and hilarious – there's dad and daughter, and oh there's daughter with a lightsaber – and they capture the meaning behind the word "family."

The book is based on the blog, tinyartdirector.blogspot.com, so if you're looking for more funny comments from this little art lover, head over there now.
