![]() Throughout the month, the museum will be holding a Read-A-Thon Contest aimed at boosting children's literary skills and building Pretend City's new library exhibit – with a number of exciting prizes and incentives, of course. Interested? Here's how you participate: Parents can pick up a flier at the front desk or download it from the museum's website. Then, children can start collecting pledges and enjoying their favorite books. Finally, on Sept. 30, Pretend City staff will host a storytime and a movie viewing for those who have completed their pledge form. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at the end of the month. So, what's the grand prize? A Pretend City Basic Birthday Party Package. Treats will also be given to second- and third-place winners. But, even if you don't win, all families who participate in the competition will get a complimentary ticket to the museum. Additionally, Pretend City is hosting five local authors and illustrators during the museum's first author's day on Sept. 6. The event will feature readings, book signings and other activities.
