![]() Multiple programs are going on throughout the county and nation to support summer reading among children, and the Mission Viejo Library's own platform kicks offs June 24. SummerREAD is geared toward infants and children up to age 12, and offers weekly entertainment and prizes – all for checking out and enjoying books. Among the features: The Pirate Magic Show on June 24 and the David Cousins Comedy Juggling Show on July 13. The best part? The six-week program – which runs through Aug. 5 – is completely free. And, participants can also bring a canned or nonperishable food item each time they visit the library to donate to the South County Outreach Food Drive. Last year, kiddies contributed more than 2,000 pounds of food to the agency. Wow – free books, prizes and good deeds. What could be a better way to spend the summer?
