Well, folks, it's happened again: A bestselling kiddie book will become a movie. Penned by Francesca Simon and published by Orion Children's Books, the "Horrid Henry" series already has global recognition: It's sold more than 16 million copies in nearly 30 languages. And it's set to gain even greater fame as a 3-D live-action film when it's released in 2011.![]() So, what's the premise? The movie will follow the unstoppable character – Lord High Majesty of the Purple Hand Gang – versus adults, much like the book series. He joins forces with some of the most unexpected characters – his brother Perfect Peter and Moody Margaret – and it's slated to be a great ride, especially if your kids are already fans of Horrid Henry. ![]() “We’re delighted to be bringing Henry to life, in the truest sense of the word – for so many kids Henry already exists, but seeing him up on the big screen gives them the chance to meet their hero face to face,” said Lucinda Whiteley, co-producer for Novel Entertainment and screenplay writer for the movie. Well – I'm interested. And though I tend to judge movie remakes, I always want to see them, just to satisfy my curiosity. Will you? ![]() Kristen Schott is OC Family's children's book editor.
