![]() Penned by Nancy Krulik and illustrated by Aaron Blecha, the book is a spinoff of the author's popular "Katie Kazoo" series and follows one of the classic characters, George Brennan – or should I say George Brown. After George and his family move to a new town, he must start fresh at the Edith B. Sugarman Elementary School – and the unstoppable, witty 10-year-old is determined to stay away from his previous role as class clown. That is, until a magical super burp begins to haunt him, and he must find a way to control it – before it takes over his life. This is a really unique little story – it's quite amusing that a burp has the ability to affect George the way it does. And, the book touches on a number of issues many children face, including fitting in at a new school, learning to control their behavior – and accepting oneself, no matter what happens. Plus, I've got to give Krulik credit for creating a real cliffhanger. I'm going to need to pick up the second book in the series so I know just what happens to George and that monstrous burb. The second in the series, "George Brown, Class Clown: Trouble Magnet," is also currently available, while "George Brown, Class Clown: World's Worst Wedgie" hits booksellers Oct. 7.
