Try saying "Frankly, Frannie" 10 times fast. Ready, go. ![]() Done? I couldn't do it either. But I could read the book – and I couldn't be more in love with this new go-getting character who just can't seem to do anything right, at least when it comes to field trips. "Frankly Frannie" is a new series created by AJ Stern and illustrated by Doreen Mulryan Marts for children – particularly girls – between ages 6 and 8. The book follows Frannie Miller as she and her classmates head off on a field trip to the local radio station. And Frannie's prepared for her big break – she's got a resume and briefcase in hand. While she makes a rather large blunder (one that may not be overlooked in the real world), she learns her lesson and provides a great example for kiddies young and old. While I absolutely love Frannie and her driven spirit, I found myself slightly saddened by this young girl who is just dying to grow up. I want her to slow down and be a child – completely, mistakes and all. On the other hand, one can't help but be impressed by her desire to be a "real" professional – one with a personal assistant. All in all, this is a fun, humorous read. Check it out with your kids before they head back to school. And if they like this one, pick up "Frankly, Frannie: Doggy Day Care." The third book in the series – "Frankly Frannie: Check, Please!" – will be published Sept. 16. I'm excited to see where Frannie goes next. Are you?
