Siemens Healthcare and Disney recently produced "Mickey and the Giant Kachoo!" It's a great little book aimed at boosting awareness of allergies among children.
The story, which was written by Susan Amerikaner and illustrated by Loter Inc., follows all the classic characters – Donald Duck, Minny, Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Professor Von Drake, Daisy Duck and Willie the Giant, who suffers from the sneezes, coughs and a runny nose common with allergies.
While out on a picnic, Mickey and friends get caught in the wake of a "storm,"better known as Willie's "kachoooeeeey," complete with rain (I know, it's a little gross if you think about it) and wind.
The book's humorous illustrations pair with simple, easy-to-read text to help kids and parents better understand what allergies are caused by, how to get tested – with a blood test – and how much better they'll feel when they get the pesky problem taken care of.
Plus, the book offers a section devoted to the Siemens 3gAllergy test, which along with a doctor's exam can help identify different allergies, as well as FAQs about allergic rhinitis.
I really love this reinvention of the Disney characters – there's no better way to tackle allergies.
