Laguna Hills-based Be There Bedtime Stories is an innovative webcam storytelling platform that allows family members to read to kiddies – even when they're not around. Sounds interesting, right? Need more incentive to check it out?
Well, here you go: The platform's founder, Alison Sansone, is among the finalists who will pitch their business ideas to a panel of angel and venture capital investors in the hopes of winning one of two $10,000 prizes during the Irvine Chamber of Commerce's Entrepreneur Forum, slated for Monday at the Beckman Center.
“It is an honor to be recognized by such esteemed Orange County business leaders including angel and venture capital investors for the business model behind Be There Bedtimes Stories,” said Sansone. “Be There Bedtime Stories was built with the mission to create happy moments, and this technology can change the way families and loved ones connect with each other through interactive storytelling – regardless of the distance across the country or the world."
You're hooked now, right? Well, I am. I just love this idea. Here's how it works: Betherebedtimestories.com positions a webcam-recorded video of a storyteller onto the page of an e-book, which can then be viewed on a computer or mobile device anywhere, anytime.
More than 200 e-books in a range of genres – including adventure, mythical and humorous categories – are currently licensed through this platform. Titles include "Going on a Journey to the Sea," "What if the Moon" and "Kiko the Hawaiian Wave." The platform is geared toward kiddies between 2 and 8.
This is a great way to build family connections – with grandparents, cousins, brothers and sisters – and, it helps young readers boost their literacy skills. It's fun – for the creator and the reader – innovative, entertaining and educational. I frankly can't get enough.
You can try it for free and find out more on betherebedtimestories.com.
I wish the best of luck to Sansone on Monday!
