Kids announce second annual bake sale to benefit shelters

The first event sold out to the tune of $800.

by Blake BakkilaPublished: July, 2010

Delicious homemade treats and helping homeless pets…don’t those two sound great together? That is exactly what a group of Laguna Niguel kids thought when they created the “It’s Not All About Me Kids Fundraiser” in 2009.

Last year, the group of elementary students gathered friends and family to bake over 1,600 cookies and bars. They passed out hundreds of flyers, which successfully attracted a large turnout to the sale. Everything was sold and a total of $800 was collected and donated to animal shelters in San Clemente and Mission Viejo.

The second annual event will be held on August 14 from 11am to 2pm at Hidden Hills Park. Community members are invited to snack on baked goods and contribute to helping animals in need. People are also welcome to drop off any items to donate to the animal shelters.
