I think this is a great way to perhaps get your kids involved in philanthropic efforts, as well as to promote reading among the area's residents, both young and old. Because the library is requesting that all donated books be published within the last year or be recent bestsellers, I suggest you and your children visit a local bookstore together to find a selection. (Each donation is tax deductible, as well.) Libraries are key in helping to promote literacy, and frankly, a lot of us love them – you've got access to gazillions of books at your fingertips. So, help out. Support the Anaheim Public Library system, which has been serving the city since 1902 and currently operates seven locations. If you're looking for suggested titles, feel free to talk to the local librarians and staff members for ideas, too. ![]() Kristen Schott is OC Family's children's book editor.
