Donate food to the Orange County Great Park and help local families
Visitors to the Great Park have until November 18 to help local families in need by donating non-perishable canned or packaged food. All donations will go towards Second Harvest Food Bank and Orange County Food Bank’s efforts against hunger during Thanksgiving. The park is currently over halfway to it’s goal of 5,000 pounds, with more than 2,775 pounds of food donated since the drive’s kick-off at the Great Park Pumpkin Harvest on October 20.
“We’re proud of our reputation as a ‘park with a heart,’” said Beth Krom, Chair of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. “[the donations] will provide about 4,400 meals for Orange County families in need. According to Second Harvest Food Bank, 615,000 people in Orange County are at risk of hunger each month.”
Donors will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Dick’s Sporting Goods. The winner will be notified on Wednesday, November 21.
