February is American Heart Month, and Irvine's Mimi's Cafe is going red. The neighborhood French-inspired bistro is the first restaurant to nationally support the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women campaign.
Mimi's is kicking off its support on National Wear Red Day, this Friday, Feb. 3, by giving a free cup of soup with any purchase to guest who wear red. Mimi's wants to warm the heart of those who come out to help spread awareness, since heart disease is the number one killer of women.
"It is not only a cause that perfectly aligns with the values of our company, it is an issue that our guests care deeply about. We are dedicated to providing awareness and education, along with more healthy dining choices and helpful tips, so our guests have the tools they need to make heart healthy choices while dining out," says Mark Mears, Mimi's President and Chief Concept Officer.
A more interactive way to get involved this Heart month is download Mimi's "Reasons to Go Red" app and share an inspirational message, and let friends know they support the cause and to educate others about heart disease. Another way guests can participate is that for every $1 they donate, a red heart-sharped card will be placed on a giant in-restaurant red dress display. For customers who donate $5 or more will get a red dress lapel pin.
"As the first restaurant to nationally support American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement, Mimi's Cafe is playing an important role in the fight against heart disease, women's No. 1 killer," said William H. Roach Jr., Chairman of the Board of the American Heart Association. "We're thankful to Mimi's Cafe for helping Go Red For Women make ending heart disease a reality."
