![]() The Junior Trotters program commenced at the end of September and continues through Nov. 24, the day of the Turkey Trot. Kids will be expected to accumulate mileage on their own, through school or through organized sports practices, adding up to at least 25.2 miles. The final mile of the program will be run at the Kids’ Gobble Wobble on Race Day, bringing the total mileage to 26.2 miles, equaling a full-length marathon. The Junior Turkey Trotters program is an excellent opportunity for kids to be accountable for their fitness and pursue a healthy, active lifestyle during the fall. The program is also a fun chance for kids to get involved in and learn about charity work: the Dana Point Turkey Trot helps raise funds for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Each dollar donated will help the organization serve three meals to people in need. Registration is currently open for the Junior Turkey Trotters program and the cut-off date is Oct. 14. A special log that tracks the child’s mileage will be provided and needs to be signed off by a parent, coach or teacher. Participating kids must accumulate 25.2 miles in order to finish the program and run the final mile at the Kids’ Gobble Wobble. Each participant that completes the program will be invited to a fun race day VIP party to celebrate! To sign up for the Junior Turkey Trotters, visit the registration page on the Turkey Trot website. |
