What to do before baby arrives

By Maria Bailey and Jennifer ArnoldPublished: January, 2010

Having a baby awakens a part of your heart that you never knew existed, but it also turns your life upside down! As you prepare for the biggest adventure of your life, take time to savor this moment. Remember that in just a few months there will be a new sheriff in town, and now is the time to be selfish! Print out the following list, and check items off as you go. While they may seem like simple pleasures now, in a few short months you will longingly “remember when” you were once so self-indulgent in these elusive luxuries.

Get away with the girls
Plan a half-day, full-day or weekend. Better yet, if you’re feeling up to it, take a road trip! Savor one last hurrah with just the girls, chatting it up about shoes, Hollywood gossip and your friend’s problems. All too soon, your favorite subjects will revolve around your baby’s feeding and napping patterns.

Eat
Sure, once the baby arrives you’ll still eat, but it will be quite some time before you’ll be able to sit down and really enjoy a meal again while it’s hot. You will become skilled in the fine art of eating while nursing, rocking the cradle and entertaining a toddler. So, eat out at your favorite restaurants, or those you’ve been dying to try, before you have to worry about getting a babysitter.
