![]() The advent of plumping formulas and wrinkle reducers such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvedérm, Sculptra, Radiesse and Botox make the concept of “going under the knife” less inviting and “going under the needle” the sage approach. Newport Beach plastic surgeon Dr. Val Lambros is no stranger to the latest techniques and is a master of finessing the various treatments to deliver the most impact with the least amount of intrusion. “I don’t tell the face what to do, the face tells me what to do,” says Lambros. “I can look at a prospective patient and tell immediately what is happening by knowing her age and by examining her skin and bone structure.” Lambros has lectured extensively on his study of comparative aging. He has compiled a library of images that are taken with the identical angle and framing of a photograph from 10, 20 or even 40 years ago. With computer analysis, side-by-side comparison and superimposition, Lambros can see exactly where and how age has affected the face. His proven conclusions dispel the widely held myth that aging isn’t about gravity. “The face does not fall, as we have believed for generations,” says Lambros. “In actuality, it goes in and out, not up and down.” He illustrates that by taking key points on the face and superimposing old with the new and proving that the points do not move. They stay in the exact position, even after 50-plus years. |
