 Unfortunately, the benevolent plan was brought to a halt when the international MOPS office informed Lopez there was not a MOPS manual written in Spanish, and that a sanctioned club must have one. Lopez took matters into her own hands and spent the next year or so writing a Spanish manual. When Lopez had almost finished, she learned that the MOPS corporate headquarters had completed a translation. She was free to start MOPS Mexico in Juarez. The first MOPS Mexico event took place in 2005. Its popularity grew slowly, due to the strain of day-to-day life. Membership has increased, and, to date, the group has about 50 moms.
