MOMS Club of Placentia North broke off six years ago from the Placentia MOMS Club to become its own entity. With a conglomerate of stay-at-home moms, part-time working moms, moms of only children and moms of multiples, the Placentia North MOMS group has made a serious effort to not exclude any type of mom from their group. This includes moms who are not even MOMS Club members. President Heather Chaffin says, “We really try and open ourselves up to really any mom who needs support.” Last year, a non-member in the local community had a brain aneurism. When the MOMS Club of Placentia North got word of the tragedy, the members stepped in to rally behind the local family of five. Women cleaned out closets, donated diapers and gave whatever they had in an effort to alleviate the immense stress on the young family. Chaffin says, in retrospect, “Women know the struggles of being a mom, and our goal (as a club) is to help.” MOMS Club of Placentia North abides by a very simple creed: “We’re in this together.” Every member recognizes how different each stage of motherhood is and supports women as they navigate the journey, whether or not they are MOMS Club members.
