![]() WWK has partnered with top video game and graphics developers to create a fun variety of challenging and interactive simulations based on real-life criminal cases. The programs discuss both sides of the issue, warning kids not only about falling victim to online dangers, but also the consequences of perpetuating them. “Web Wise Kids has chosen a unique method for Internet safety,” says Judi Westberg Warren of Web Wise Kids. “A series of computer games was developed to help educate children and keep them safe online by making it fun, proactive and preventative.” Current programs include, “It’s Your Call,” about cell phone/smartphone responsibilities and dangers; “MISSING,” about online predators; and two Cyber Cop series: “Mirror Image,” about cyber-stalking, modeling scams and spyware; and “Airdogs,” which focuses on piracy, cyber-bullying and illegal downloads. “The creators of the games went to great lengths to engage the problem-solving and decision-making skills of tweens and teens,” says Warren. “Instead of lecturing and scare tactics, we give children the power to make their own decisions, which tends to have much more compelling results.” |
