![]() My 7-year-old asked me “the question”: Where do babies come from? My 3-1/2-year-old blurted out, “You got us at the store, right?” Dean, 3, of Laguna Niguel September quips I was with a friend when she was putting her son, George, to bed. When she gave George a kiss on the cheek and he wiped it away, she said, “Hey! Don't do that"! George replied, "I'm not rubbing it off, Mom. I'm rubbing it in!” George, 3, of Lake Forest ALSO FROM GEORGE: I was having a really bad hair day after a spending time at the beach with a good friend and her three-year-old son, George. When I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror I said, "Whoa … my hair looks scary!!" And George said," No it doesn’t Shay, it looks beautiful ... you’re perfect." It was so sweet, it brought me to tears. I was lying on the bed with my 22-month-old daughter when she looked up at me, pointed to my face, and said "Mommy! Spider!" I jumped up, trying to brush the spider from my face until I realized she was pointing at my nose. I guess my nose hairs were overdue for a trim! Kira, 2, of Cerritos As we were getting ready to ride our bikes, Clover said, "Mommy, we need our knee and Elmo pads!" Clover, 3, of Dana Point I am currently potty training both my 2-year-old daughter and my 3 ½-year-old son. When my son almost had the hang of it, he wanted to show his sister how to do it standing up. I explained to him that she couldn't do it that way, since she was missing a piece of equipment. My son then bent his head down and looked between his sister's legs and said, "Oh, its broken?" Qiumars, 3 ½, of Irvine ALSO FROM QIUMARS: After a particularly challenging day as a mother of two toddlers, I was tucking my son into bed and sighed, "You know, it's not easy being a Mommy." Without missing a beat my son said, "Its not easy being a little boy, either." My 3½-year-old son, Nathan, is an early riser. One morning he asked me to come into his bed to play. When I told him that I wanted to sleep a little longer, he said he’d sing me a song. After a lively version of "ABCs", he said, "Did that make you sleepy, Mommy?" When I told him "No, but a lullaby might," he said, "Sorry, Mommy, my lullaby is out of order. Nathan, 3 ½, of Huntington Beach In preschool, Mya learned the "Days of the Week" song and sings it often. One day, she asked me what day it was, and I told her it was Monday. Then she asked what day was tomorrow, so I suggested that she sing the song. After singing it, she said, "Mom, there is no 'tomorrow' in the song!" Mya, 4, of Rancho Santa Margarita Tired of trying to stop his twin brother and sister from messing up his things, my 5 year-old-son frowned one day and said, "Mom I want to return the babies back." Advay, 5, of Irvine While dressing my nephew after his bath, I remarked that a Band-Aid we had put on the day before was still sticking well. I said to him, "This must be a waterproof Band-Aid." To which he replied, "No it's only land-proof!" Chase, 4, of Rancho Santa Margarita It was one week after my father passed away, and Alyssa was in the car with me while we were driving around planning the details for Dad’s wake. After several times of telling her, "He's in heaven now," she said "Mommy! I know what kind of cake to get: an angel cake!" Alyssa, 6, of Costa Mesa ALSO FROM ALYSSA: When Alyssa and I were walking to our neighborhood Starbucks, we were chatting about school and church. Out of the blue she said, "Mommy, how does a Chinese person say hello in Spanish?" I took my son and daughter to get an ultrasound and find out the sex of our baby. The technician said it was a boy. My son yelled to his sister, "The baby's going to have a penis and not a vagina like you, Paige!” Blake, 3, of Orange I asked my daughter if she knew what her daddy's job was (he’s a paralegal). She said, "He's a parakeetal!” Kate, 4, of Placentia ALSO FROM KATE: When I took my kids to the movies, the theater was having technical difficulties; after the trailers, the screen went to black. My daughter said, "I think they used the wrong remote!" Our 2-year-old son, Colby, was trying desperately to wake up my husband. He kept tapping him on the chest, but wasn't getting the response he wanted. So, Colby pushed repeatedly on one of my husband's nipples and said "DING DONG!" like it was a Daddy doorbell.
