February's winner ...

• While I was putting on mascara, Reese said to his brother, “Shhh! Mommy is putting on her pretty eyes.”
Reese and Chase 3, Anaheim

... and the best of the rest:

Mom, can you call the toof fairy?
Emma, 4, Chino

I was cleaning out my purse, and Evan asked if he could help me. He got ahold of my wallet and asked, “Mom, are you homeless?” I said to him, “Why do you ask Mommy that?” He replied, “Because you have no money in your wallet.”
Evan, 4, Huntington Beach

The kids and I were in the car and – I am not sure how this subject came up – Elizabeth said something about what it would be like if she had a baby at age 15. I told her that if she were 15 with a baby, she’d be in big trouble. She thought for a moment and said, “Well, if God is the one who puts babies in your tummy, why would I be in trouble, Mama?” I sat there for a minute, dumbfounded to say the least! I finally told her, “Because you have to ask God to put them in your tummy!!”

Rocke was doing a comparison homework assignment, and he compared himself to me. One of the differences I said was that “I’m old and you’re young,” and he looked at me and said, “I’ll put down that you’re young and I’m younger.” Once again, he melted my heart with his sweetness.
Rocke, 9, Anaheim

Victoria, affecting a diva attitude with her 2-year-old brother, Ares, said to him: “Talk to the hand.” Ares said, “Hi, hand. How
is your day?”
Victoria, 9, Ares, 2, Orange

“My teacher said that the only time we are allowed to run in the classroom is if we are going to throw up.”
Samantha, 6, Rancho Santa Margarita

My son was learning about George Washington, and I asked him if he knew the difference between a president and a king. “Yes,” he replied. “Presidents wear black suits and kings wear robes.”
Elias, 5, Rancho Santa Margarita
