JANUARY'S WINNER:
My 5-year-old son was having difficulty going to sleep and kept getting out of bed. When I asked him why he wasn’t nodding off, he replied, “Because my eyelids won’t stay shut.”
Anderson, 5, Irvine

AND THE BEST OF THE REST:

My daughter’s teacher asked if she could bring a photo of her brother to class. My daughter replied, “He is chocolate brown.” Her teacher asked, “What about you?” She replied, “I’m vanilla.”
Chloe De Vera, 4, Lake Forest

I was using the blender when my 4-year-old son started pressing all the different buttons on it. I told him, “Honey, it’s not kids’ play.” He came back with, “So is it Mommy’s play?” Involuntarily I answered, “No.” To which he asked, “Then is it Mommy’s work?”
Sanjay, 4, Irvine

As I was putting my son down for a nap on Christmas Day, he said to me, “I feel the love that was my special gift.”
Samuel, 4, Yorba Linda

While reaching out to admire the white faux vest I put on, my daughter said, “Wow, Mom. That’s soft! Is it made out of polar bear?”
Amaya, 4, San Juan Capistrano

It never fails that my two daughters wake me up earlier on the weekends than during the weekdays. So I said to them, “Why do you do this every weekend? I want to sleep in.” My 7-year-old replied, “At least we only do it to you two days a week; you do it to us five days.”
Lola, 7, Costa Mesa

I was preparing noodles for my girls when my 5-year-old excitedly said, “Mom, I will go and get the chompsticks!” I had to stop myself from laughing out loud at her.
Chloe, 5, Laguna Niguel

My son cut his upper lip and had to get stitches, which were dissolvable. My husband told him that he was so lucky, because when he cut his chin open as a kid, he had to have a doctor remove the stitches. My son replied, “Dad, that is so ’80s!”
Michael, 6, Rancho Santa Margarita

“Mommy, I am hungry. I would like a sninner! That is half snack, half dinner.”
Hollan, 7, Huntington Beach
