![]() First of all, it is a boutique hotel, with all the broad and detailed touches that make a hotel homey yet luxurious, impressive and accessible. With lots of natural lighting, clean lines and a yellow-and-orange palette, Renaissance Club Sport is bright, warm and inviting. The gentle curves of the lobby desks, couches and walls beckon the visitor back toward the restaurant, Citrus Fresh Grill, or the airy café, Citrus Express. A jaunt to the left will take you directly to the fitness center check-in, and it’s obvious that the regular facility’s clientele is completely at ease. This is, after all, their fitness club. And many join with the whole family in mind. This concept is particularly ingenious from a business standpoint. When hotels rely solely on tourism business, it can be “feast or famine.” The more savvy properties cultivate local clientele to help bridge the down cycles of seasonal tourism (and economic downturns). Renaissance has done this beautifully by creating a haven – a beautiful patio with couches and fire rings, a lounge, a restaurant and a full-service spa – and then offering all these amenities to their community customer base. If you are a hotel guest, however, you won’t feel like a gatecrasher. All guests are encouraged to use the fitness center, which holds the most impressive collection of equipment and extras I’ve ever seen. |
