![]() Baby’s first holiday is a momentous occasion for most new parents. Whether it is the first new addition to the family or the second or third sibling in the bunch, there still seems to be a lot of pressure on parents to make baby’s first holiday a special and memorable occasion. While it’s difficult to navigate the landmines of family get-togethers and sibling rivalries, parents can rest assured that standing firm in their plans and celebrating the family as a whole will make this holiday the best one yet. Anne Martin, an adjunct professor of sociology at Concordia University, and a marriage and family therapist at Diamond Family Counseling, believes that people become disappointed during the holidays when expectations are too high or communication is not clear enough. Martin says that communication about the holidays should take place well before the holiday season. She also suggests that parents stick to their plans for the holidays and only keep traditions that still carry significance to the family. |
