Compiled by Kristen SchottPublished: October, 2008

To coincide with OC Family's October Cover Story, The sages of pages, which features interviews with the notable authors and illustrators at the O.C. Children's Book Festival this month, we've put together some extras for you and your children to discover. So, sit down with your family and watch Stacia Deutsch, D.J. MacHale, Robin Preiss Glasser and Barney Salzberg in action.

Stacia Deutsch
Deutsch and her writing partner, Rhody Cohon, have written 23 books in the past four years. In addition to their chapter book series "Blast to the Past," Deutsch and Cohon have ghostwritten for a popular girl’s mystery series, published two non-fiction texts and a young-adult romantic comedy called "In the Stars." They have written junior movie tie-in novels for summer blockbuster films, including "Batman, The Dark Knight." Deutsch lives in Irvine with her three children. D.J. MacHale
MacHale is a writer, director and producer of several popular TV series and movies, including "Flight 29 Down," "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" "Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective," "Tower of Terror" and Ghostwriter." His book series, "Pendragon – Journal of an Adventure Through Time and Space," went to No.1 on the New York Times best-seller list. He lives in Southern California with his wife, Evangeline, his daughter, Keaton, a golden retriever, Maggie, and a kitten, Kaboodle. Listen as MacHale discusses his favorite characters from "Pendragon."

Robin Preiss Glasser
Glasser has had two successful careers – a ballet dancer and a children’s book illustrator. She graduated from the Professional Children’s School in New York City and became a soloist with the Pennsylvania Ballet. After performing with the Ballet for 11 years, Glasser returned to school to receive her bachelor’s of fine arts. Her illustrations have been featured in a number of children's books, particularly the "Fancy Nancy" series, which has sold more than 3 million books. She also has worked with Lynne Cheney, the vice president's wife, on a patriotic children's series. Glasser's latest book is "Tea for Ruby," by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Glasser lives in Irvine, with her husband, Robert Berman, children Sasha and Benjamin, and dog Boo. Flip through some of Glasser's illustrations in her slide show.

Barney Saltzberg
Saltzberg is a children’s author and singer/songwriter of close to thirty books and four CDs. His books include "Crazy Hair Day," "Stanley and the Class Pet," "Cornelius P. Mud are You Ready for Bed," "Peekaboo Kisses" and "Peekaboo, Blueberry!" He's the recipient of the Oppenheim Award, Parents Choice Award, Children’s Book Council Choice, Book of the Month Main Selection and Children’s Media Award. Barney Saltzberg lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two dogs and a pond of fish. Listen to Saltzberg as he narrates "Peekaboo, Blueberry!"
