field trips to the library or bookstore. Make each trip an experience
on its own, rather than just another errand. Let your children pick
their own titles.3. Keep books in the car and tucked into a backpack. Children can read while traveling by car, bus, train or plane. Books are the perfect travel companion. 4. Encourage children to read a book series. When young readers fall in love with a series – think “Harry Potter” – they stick with it! By the time they complete a series, they’re simply better readers. 5. Connect reading with favorite activities. Find books that match a child’s interests: riding bikes, skateboarding or secret fort building, for example. Your child will connect reading to these interests. 6. Location, location, location.
