![]() The OC Family editorial offices have been buzzing with activity for the last several months. If you’re a regular reader of our magazine, or a frequent visitor to our Web site, you know we’ve got lots going on. Earlier this year, we launched OC Family Radio, our weekday Internet radio broadcast (go to ocfamily.com and click on Radio to listen in). To date, we have produced more than 40 broadcasts on subjects ranging from postpartum depression to dyslexia, all featuring local experts. Every show is available on podcast, so you can listen at your convenience and share the shows with friends. Not only are we heard in Southern California, our broadcasts are also accessible around the globe – a big step for a regional media company! We’ve also jumped into video with both feet. A partnership with the staff at Children’s Hospital of Orange County has resulted in a series of “how-to” videos for parents on subjects ranging from drowning prevention to car seat safety. We’re also producing our own videos, including this month’s “Get Organized!” production with tips on how to de-clutter your home and your life – watch it at ocfamily.com. And, we’re asking you to post your videos, too. We’re even going to give away an HD camcorder to one lucky family that is selected at random from everyone who posts a video. All the while, our staff continues to produce this magazine, chock full of useful information to help you live, work and play better. Our efforts were recently recognized by the Parenting Publications of America, an industry association comprised of more than 150 regional parenting magazines across the country. OC Family magazine was honored with the Silver Award for General Excellence, and our Web site was handed the GOLD and named the BEST FAMILY WEB SITE IN THE NATION among family magazine publishers.Kudos to the talented team that works so hard to generate the rich content that fills our magazine and our Web site. Our dedicated staff includes Associate Editor Susan Belknapp, Contributing Writer and Copy Editor Larry Urish, Editorial Assistant and Video Producer Ashley Eliot, Assistant Web Editor/Children’s Book Editor Kristen Schott, Calendar Coordinator Tracy Bennett, Art Director Kari Wirtz, Senior Graphic Designer Andrea Mayberry and Graphic Designers Sonia Chung and Brandon Jaime. And at the helm, of course, is Churm Media President and Publisher Steve Churm. A special nod to our readers, who continue to inspire our coverage of family life in Orange County. |
