![]() Mother of two Residence: Huntington Beach Founder, Primal Elements primalelements.com Launched business: 1993 Faith Freeman and her husband founded Primal Elements as a retail store in 1993. The company has evolved into a leading manufacturer of bath, body and fragrance products that are sold around the world through over 11,000 high-end specialty retail accounts. More than 100 different varieties of loaf soap in delicious fragrances such as Tahitian Vanilla, Tranquility, Grapefruit, and Green Tea served to inspire other products. The Freemans have diversified, developing innovative products for every room in the house – and beyond. Their Personal Care line features bubbling bath salts, bath and shower gels, lotions and oval-shaped candles in a variety of favorite Primal Elements fragrances. Q: Where did you get the idea? We were never satisfied with the quality of the soaps we purchased from other vendors, so we decided to make them ourselves. Q: How long did it take from idea to marketplace? A very short time; less than one year. We jumped in rather blindly. That turned out to be a very good thing. Q: Where did you get the startup funding? My mother took a loan out against her house to provide us with the startup capital. Q: How are you marketing your product? Through trade shows and a large sales representative network throughout the country. Word of mouth is our best advertising. Q: What has been your smartest move? Continually being innovative by keeping the offerings fresh. Click HERE to read more about Freeman's company, including her biggest mistake.
