Gaurav Mishra

Gaurav Mishra is a third grader with virtually his entire educational career ahead of him. However, he has already made a big impression. According to his teacher, Janice Cokely, “Gaurav Mishra is the most brilliant child to enter my classroom in the past 20 years.”
   
While Cokely says she could have submitted Mishra as a Shining Student in a number of different categories, she opted to spotlight his musical ability. Mishra started piano lessons in the middle of kindergarten, and immediately he has exceeded any piano teachers’ expectations. His talent was even more apparent to Cokely as she videotaped Mishra playing the piano and noticed that the song she had asked him to practice the night before was not the same.
   
According to Cokely, “Gaurav informed me that the night before he decided to add parts to the song.” This future concert pianist decided to change the song to, as he put it, “make it better.”
