Kathryn Gasparro

Fountain Valley High School
Fountain Valley High School’s Kathryn Gasparro has made the city proud. This musician has been named the principle oboist for the Southern California Youth Philharmonic, and has earned a place in both the California All Southern and All State bands. She has married her enthusiasm for music and her leadership talents as drum major of her high school band, where she directs 150 of her peers in parade competitions and on the field. Kathryn also sits on numerous school committees, is founder and president of the FVHS Pink Ribbon Club (which promotes awareness and fundraising in the fight against breast cancer) and is president of the Junior Commission. This month Kathryn will be awarded the highest award presented to youth by the United States Congress: the Congressional Award Gold Medal.
