LAKE FOREST – A 14-year-old boy who had to be hoisted out from Glenn Ranch Road by a helicopter on Thursday night was mountain biking when he got injured, officials said.

The teenager was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo with head trauma, said Capt. Marc Stone. He had to be airlifted out because the terrain doesn’t allow for vehicles and the ride to the hospital would have been rocky, Stone said. A group of people were with the teen, he said.

The boy did not have life-threatening injuries.

The call that the OCFA responded to came in at 7:44 p.m. Thursday, Orange County Fire Authority Battalion Chief Kris Concepcion said.
