This quaint, cove-like beach is a perfect place to spend the day with the family. It offers the following amenities: a playground, fire pits, parking and picnic areas. Beware of steep shore slopes, creating powerful waves.

Laguna Outdoors offers tours of the Laguna tide pools. Tour guides teach visitors about the animals that live in these tide pools, as well as how they can protect and preserve this delicate environment. Tours run year-round, and local transportation is available.

The Laguna Playhouse is recognized as one of the best regional theaters in Southern California and has one of the most respected youth theater programs in the country. The Youth Theater, which has emerged as the region's premier theater for young audiences, offers two fully mounted productions annually on the Moulton Theatre stage.

While Main Beach is not wide like the neighboring beaches, it features a number of activities suitable for families. Tide pools, rock climbing and a marine education center are located at one end; and basketball and volleyball courts are at the other. Just across the street are restaurants, shops and art galleries.

Picnic Beach, where picnic tables overlook the beach, is located below Heisler Park. Approximately 700 feet in length, this beach is cozy, but well attended because of the tables and ocean views. In addition to picnicking, visitors can also enjoy scuba diving, bodysurfing and tide pool exploration. Picnic Beach is especially popular during the weekends. Picnic tables available.

Shaw's Cove is a popular diving and sports fishing location. Visitors, tourists and locals enjoy swimming, boogie boarding, skin and scuba diving. But beware – during high surf, hazardous conditions exist in the cove and at the beach.

The school offers wetsuit, body board, surfboard and snorkel gear rentals, as well as private surf lessons, surf clinic parties and after-school programs for kids ages 3-6 and 7-18, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 4-5:15 p.m. Home-school physical education programs are also offered and tailored to group and individual needs. Workout programs for adults are also available.
