Never before have we had so much access to information during our pregnancies. Sort through the noise with these free tried-and-true apps.

BabyBump Pregnancy Pro
Available from the Google Play Store
This easy-to-use app is pretty comprehensive; it keeps parents-to-be posted on the growth and progress of the baby. It also lets you track and share your experience – not just with family and friends, but with a support group of users on the pregnancy forum as well. There’s the de rigueur countdown widget with the embryo pictures and weekly details of your baby’s size and weight; a way to track a pregnant momma’s own weight and waist measurements and note morning sickness and moods. You can also upload photos of your baby bump. And when it’s time to give birth, a contractions timer (with a start/stop button) will be your best friend.

Ovia Pregnancy & Baby Tracker
Available from the Google Play Store
Not gonna lie: Ovia’s best feature for me was the customizable theme to track my baby’s development. Is your baby the size of a papaya? Or a basketball? It keeps you going back to the app weekly to track weight, sleep, moods, exercise and overall symptoms in Ovia’s calendar. Ovia then is able to use your information to deliver personalized pregnancy articles and baby development milestones. You can also add photos of yourself and the baby throughout your pregnancy. And after you give birth, there’s a child-rearing app from the same company, so you’re never without guidance.

Full Term: Labor Contraction Timer, Pregnancy Reference & Kick Counter
Available from the iTunes Store
App creator Mustansir Golawala made the app to use during his wife’s labor; he made sure the interface was as clean as possible so that it would be the most convenient way to keep track of labor contractions. To use it, you have to tap only on a single button to mark the beginning and the end of each contraction. The app then keeps track of the times, durations and frequency of every contraction during labor. You can email your contraction history to a health care professional or to yourself for your records. The app also includes a fetal kick counter that saves your history. (And you can set up reminders to make sure you count kicks at the same time every day.)

Pregnancy & Baby – What to Expect
Available from the iTunes Store
You have all the books already; if you’ve ever read “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” you’ll know that this app guides ladies through pregnancy by the day, by the week – and even by the hour. Log in your due date to get personalized content that tracks your baby’s development, news on parenting and health information, and connect with a community of other moms-to-be based on your birth month, medical condition, parenting style and location. For Apple Watch users, the What to Expect Pregnancy Clock is extra helpful: Clock your progress with daily countdowns and receive tips to get moving or take a break synchronized to the time of day.
