Orange County Register reporter Keith Sharon

When I was a kid, I have vivid memories of my mom dropping me off at the old Crest Theater in the morning during the summer. I would stay all day and watch movies. I became a movie nut.

When I saw what was happening in Huntington Beach beginning July 31, I thought I’d better take my youngest son.

The Cinemark Theater (7777 Edinger Ave. in Bella Terra) is part of a national movie bonanza. Six cities across America — Huntington Beach; Woodridge, Ill.; Plano, Texas.; Union City, Calif.; Valley View, Ohio; Orlando — are participating in “Disney Screen.”

They’re offering $5 per day passes (or $10 per week), and they’re screening four movies per day.

Showtimes and tickets.

The films are Disney and Pixar classics like “The Jungle Book,” “The Fox and the Hound” and “Up.”
