Dads are pretty difficult to shop for, so how about a DIY gift this year for Father’s Day? These comic book coasters are perfect for dads who are fans of superheroes, collect comic books or go to the latest blockbuster Marvel movie. The metal base gives the coaster enough weight to keep it from sticking to the glass.

Outdoor Mod Podge

Electrical outlet covers, metal (package includes gasket padding)

Comic books or printouts

E-6000 adhesive

Paintbrush

Sandpaper (220 grit)

Craft knife (try X-Acto or Fiskars)

Cutting mat

Using a cutting mat, take the metal outlet cover and place it on top of the comic book page over the image you want for your coaster. Hold the metal cover down firmly and cut around it with your craft knife.

Apply a thin layer of Outdoor Mod Podge to the metal cover and place your comic book page or printout on top of it. Smooth any wrinkles with your fingers. Wait 20 minutes.

Apply a topcoat of Outdoor Mod Podge over the comic book cutout. Let it dry.
