NATIVE CULTURES: SERI PEOPLE: Tree of Life Nursery hosts artisans from the indigenous Seri (Comcáac) tribe. Hailing from the arid coast of Sonora, Mexico, the Seri are famous for their basketry; necklaces of shell, bead and bone; and elegant ironwood carvings. This special event will begin with a cultural exchange, as the Acjachemen people welcome the Seri to their ancestral land, followed by a traditional Seri dance and ceremonial songs. Seri artisans will have their finest items available for sale, and in the spirit of “fair trade,” 100 percent of the proceeds will stay with the artisans.
