Last night was one of the most memorable of my life. Really! I was given the opportunity to guest host "Ducks TV," the Anaheim Ducks online clips show, as part of a contest they're running this season. The winner will have the chance to appear in another video and interview an Anaheim Duck player. **Swoon** It's probably become painfully clear by now, I'm a HUGE Ducks fan and this was like a dream come true for me to get a behind-the-scenes tour of The Honda Center, meet some of the people I've grown to adore in the organization and, one of my favorite parts, write the game highlights. Follow me through the night in my Whrrl Story. I was nervous yesterday leading up to the night taping. Fear of making a fool of myself, not being a seasoned enough fan, or achieving some sort of fiasco caught on tape that would end up on a sports blooper show, started to give me the jitters. But here's the fear that was bigger than all of those things--the fear of never trying and missing out on something great. Then while eating lunch I read this quote in Steve Churm's (who I should mention is my boss) article in OC Metro (A Constant State of Change) and it was exactly what I needed to give me that little push: I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying. --Michael Jordan If I wouldn't have tried, I never would have had such an amazing experience. And, aside from all the hair flipping and head tossing I do, I think my segment turned out pretty good. I'm happy with it. Here is my unofficial post about the night. |
