We had that happen on the stair landing in our old house. We actually had to cut out the carpet. Thankfully, we had a huge roll of our carpet. We know now to always ask for the extras.

You are not alone! My hubbie had the same idea at our previous home and the smell was so bad we actually removed the carpet. Good luck! I hope a professional can save the day!

Well, The Husband does no fixing AT ALL. Like none. He does say 'call someone' very easily so I love him for that. However, I do lots of home repairs myself. Remind me to tell you how I 'fixed' a jacuzzi tub once and flooded the neighborhood. Yeah. Awesome. :)

Yay! I can breathe again $150 later. FamilyMan Carpet Cleaning to the rescue!!!!!!!! Should have done than in the first place. Thanks Julie and Aracely. The similar stories always lessens the I'm an idiot/shoulda known feelings. Marcy, jacuz story comin' my way. ;) Sounds entertaining ... now. Not then probably. Till the next Mr Fix It strikes again.
