Video: OC Family Bloggers give their parenting advice

Jen, an OC Family Blogger ("OC Transplant"), is expecting her first baby. We thought we'd shell out the parenting advice to her in the latest Vloggersation.

I know. Parenting advice is a risky business, but I think we gave her some good stuff.  Feel free to share some of your best advice with Jen.

Love the advice. Thanks for the compliment Jen!! It IS possible to be a "well-adjusted only child" (as my mom would say). You will do great... of course none of us really know how we are doing until our kiddos become adults and we see how much they are spending on therapy... ha!!

Jen, here are a few bits of new momma advice: Find some soothing music for rest time (those spa and nature CDs at the Target music kiosks are a good start). It'll relax your infant and will also work wonders if the new parents are feeling stressed. My 8 yr old son will still put on the nature CD when his brain doesn't want to shut down at night. Home from the hospital advice: buy some Dermoplast Antibacterial pain relieving spray for any stitches you might get. I will always keep this stuff in the house. It's great for kid's scrapes, cuts and sunburns and is wonderful for letting delicate areas heal. Last tidbit tip: i bought a toy like this one and put it in the corner of my son's crib when he was 6+ months old. http://www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-Spin-Sing-Alphabet-Zoo/dp/B000NRX5XE I could always tell when he woke up in the morning when I heard the music from the toy. He never cried for attention in the morning and I could let him be on his own for a little bit before going in to his room to say good morning. It teaches phonics, letters, etc, and I loved that this toy was easily portable around the house and to take on the go. Enjoy motherhood! It's the best job in the world :0)

Sleep training! Start subtely right away. during the day wun the vaccuum, dishwasher, TV and ope windowns. So they know its day time and its time to be awake. At night, keep it quite lights off or low so they know its night time. When changing diapers and soothing in the middle of the night don't make eye contact. Do your thing then get out of their way. That comes a little later than the newborn stage. But as soon as they know whats day and night, better for you
